The Atlantic branch is searching for a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to fill the full-time, permanent Project Coordinator position. The Project Coordinator role encompasses responsibility for extensive and varied administrative activities necessary to complete project specific tasks in the office, and in the field. The Project Coordinator will support the Project Manager in multiple planning, design, implementation, inspection and tracking of projects, as well as work independently in investigation, inspection and testing of roofing and building envelope site issues, to generate condition assessments and evaluation reports.

Candidate Profile

The position requires a graduate of Civil Engineering Technology or Bachelor of Engineering Civil/Structural in combination with a minimum of five (5) years field experience that includes strong knowledge and use of various field-testing equipment, or an individual with the equivalent combination of trade experience and knowledge. The candidate should also have extensive knowledge of building construction, restoration and building sciences, possessing a range of technical knowledge in the field of roofing and building envelope inspection, investigation and testing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Manager and liaise with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope and objectives.

  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, schedules, and budgets.

  • Complete field work including measuring, drawing, observing roofing test cuts, identifying obstacles, and photographing existing conditions.

  • Assist in the preparation of project technical drawings and specifications, particularly in the peak design season.

  • Assist with quality assurance reviews of work in progress to ensure compliance with tender documents, codes, and standards.

  • Perform site evaluations, inspections and testing as required to provide roof and/or building envelope condition assessment reports using FSA standard formats.

  • Coordinate field data and prepare various roofing and building envelope assessments, or other investigative reports complete with observations, conclusions, recommendations, and repair budgets.

  • Prepare and administer contract documents including change documentation and payment certification relevant to CCDC and other contract forms.

  • Attend pre-bid site meetings and bid closing assessment meetings as required.

  • Attend site meetings with Owners, Contractors, and other consultants, as FSA’s representative.

  • Provide technical assistance to other team members relative to experience.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Branch Manager.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Diploma in Civil Engineer Technology or Bachelor of Engineering Civil/Structural.

  • Seven (7) years minimum construction related experience included but not limited to:

    • Design

    • Engineering

    • BECx commissioning

    • BE testing – ASTM E783, E1183, AMMA 501, 502, 503, ELD

    • Thermographer Certification Level I, II, III

    • Building envelope trades:

      • Commercial / industrial roofing

      • Framing and carpentry

      • Windows, doors, curtain walls

      • Cladding – metal, masonry, wood, steel

      • Heritage buildings and restoration

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and BluBeam.

  • Proficiency with exterior building envelope practices, including masonry, roofing, glazing, etc.

  • Proficiency in the production, coordination, and enforcement of construction documentation.

  • Advanced technical construction knowledge and skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Familiarity with the National Building Code and applicable Acts and Regulations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge and experienced use of various roofing and building envelope testing equipment will be considered an asset.

  • Ability to attain federal security clearances.

  • Position requires travel throughout Atlantic Canada, with overnight stays.

  • Position requires regular field work and office work.

  • Driver’s license required.
