Job Description

Our structural team is growing and we are searching for a dynamic team leader. We're looking for a motivated and energetic Professional Engineer to integrate with our existing team of professionals. This is an outstanding opportunity for a structural engineer to bring his or her skills and add to them within a growing, Ottawa-based engineering services firm, having an established base of great clients. Ideally, you are detail-oriented and process-driven, with an analytical eye and ability to see the big picture. You have the drive and flexibility to thrive in our fast-paced environment, managing projects and mentoring EITs and technologists.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate projects, dealing directly with clients and leaders of other disciplines.
  • Support other Project Managers who require structural expertise within their projects.
  • Perform engineering design and assessments for structures composed of various materials including: Steel, Concrete, Masonry, and Wood.
  • Utilize engineering software in the analysis of structural building components.
  • Write technical reports.
  • Edit specifications to suit project-specific requirements.
  • Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of building structural systems including structural and seismic code compliance.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of facility management professionals and technicians to develop short and long-term capital planning for existing facilities.
  • Support Project Delivery Services during the project initiation and planning by reviewing material, cost and timing, estimates and reports for building structural systems including structural and seismic code compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with other project team members to provide excellent client service.
  • Supervise and perform structural testing and investigation.

Qualifications

  • P. Eng. registered with PEO
  • proficiency in the major structural software suites used (ETABS, SAFE, and RamSteel)
  • Seismic analysis and design experience is an asset;
  • Project management experience an asset;
  • Must have a well-rounded background in civil and structural project design and construction;
  • Knowledge of concrete, steel and wood structures;
  • Working knowledge of the National Building Code and common structural engineering software;
  • Bilingualism French/English an asset
  • Experience with building envelope and waterproofing systems
  • Field experience on construction sites, conducting general reviews for compliance with drawings and specifications, and writing site reports
  • Minimum 5 years of structural engineering design experience.
